The Displaced Captain
He was a soldier. That had always been his lot in life. He was born a commoner with little to his name. He never really knew his mother, and after her untimely death in a hunting accident, his father became more and more distant. When he was old enough, Leynor picked up a sword and began his training. It did not take long for him to distinguish himself from the others. He was given command of 25 warriors and tasked with keeping the forests safe within Selva. He was content with this, that is until he was told to not discriminate against those who he was ordered to kill when he spared the children of some men who were caught logging. He was there to dispense justice, not vengeance, and this felt wrong. He didn’t say anything to his men, but he heard the grumbling. On a return to headquarters, he met and then fell for a lady named Elarinya Moonpetal, one who was as restless as he was. Something had happened to her to make her want to leave, though she never did say what. When the time was right the two of them left. Every man agreed to follow him, they would not abandon their leader.
Sunfalcon was not expecting them to follow, he was now responsible for all of them. They became mercenaries of a sort, only taking jobs that did not conflict with their moral code. They first joined merchants and transport vessels as sailors and to fight off pirate boarding parties, and then bought their own ship to escort and then chase down pirates. It was a good life, doing good things. For years Captain Sunfalcon’s men and the extra sailors he employed were happy, until the Great Decay. Aqua had become their new home, and now it was shut off from them. Any attempts to get to the ports was met by pirates. Not knowing what was going on, Captain Sunfalcon tried to thwart them and get through to the people he was sure were suffering. But the pirate Queen Grace was not going to allow this.
A trap was set off the eastern coast of Bombaro. In the heat of the battle, Elarinya was lost overboard, and Captain Sunfalcon was forced to retreat north. Since then he split his time searching for her while looking for ways to get his men into Aqua. He was going to find out what had happened to his new home, and punish those responsible.
